Switzerland: Man With Chainsaw Attacks Five People

Authorities in Switzerland are currently looking for a 51 year old man who attacked five people with a chainsaw in the town of Schaffhausen. The man reportedly began the attack at a health insurance building at around 10:30 local time.                                                                                                                         Police began the search for the attacker shortly after the incident. The search is being done by more than 100 officers. The man, who police say lives in the woods, has two previous convictions for weapons offences. Police believe the attack is against people of the insurance company.

The search is still going on and police believe the man is still carrying the chainsaw. The man entered the building on Monday morning and began attacking people working for the insurance company. One employee was seriously injured but police say he is in stable condition.

Police have already found the suspect’s car and have received more information from the residents. According to some of the people living there, the man had been living in the woods for the last two weeks. The man is known to residents as he has been involved in other incidents in recent weeks. Police have released pictures of the man to see if anyone has more information on where he could be.

One resident told reporters that the man had been reported to police before. The report happened after the man verbally attacked residents. The town, which is located just a few miles away from Germany, has a population of around 36,000 people. Police have already found his car and are also getting help from German police, who are searching to see if the man crossed into the country after the attack.

Police say the man is dangerous and could still be carrying the chainsaw he used on Monday morning. A police official recently said during a news conference that this attack was clearly against people from the company and not just an attack against a hypothetical person.
