The 10 Biggest Premier League Moves So Far

The Premier League has spent a crazy amount of money in just a few weeks. Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and a few other clubs have made big signings to compete for the league and cup titles next season.

Kyle Walker

Manchester City didn’t waste any time on making big signings when the transfer window opened a few weeks ago. Bernardo Silva was the first star to join from Monaco and then the team completed the signing of goalkeeper Ederson. The club hasn’t stopped there though, they nearly signed Dani Alves, who decided to join PSG weeks after rumors had him going to Manchester City. After the news of his move to PSG, Manchester City made its biggest addition by signing Kyle Walker in a $58 million transfer. The club is said to be interested in a few other players so it wouldn’t be surprising to see another big signing soon.

Romelu Lukaku

After the season, Manchester United decided to release Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently injured and won’t be coming back until at least January. The news were a little shocking as Ibrahimovic was pretty good during the season but Manchester United found his replacement just a few weeks later, signing Romelu Lukaku on a transfer worth nearly $100 million. Jose Mourinho has also said the door is still open for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return to the team in January.

Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal didn’t have a good season and with rumors that Alexis Sanchez might be playing for another team next season, it all seemed bad for fans. But the club recently made a good signing at the striker position. We’re talking about Alexandre Lacazette, who scored for Arsenal just 15 minutes into his debut. The star striker scored a whopping 35 goals last season and is already looking like a great signing for Arsenal. It is not yet known if Arsenal will let Sanchez go but if he does stay, Lacazette and Sanchez could end up scoring plenty of goals in the season.

Mohamed Salah

Last month, Liverpool made one of its first signings by adding Mohamed Salad. The former Roma player almost joined Liverpool back in 2014. The winger made his Liverpool debut one day ago, scoring once in a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic. Liverpool is also looking to sign Naby Keita but the transfer could be difficult as the club reportedly wants around $91 million. A few days ago, Liverpool completed the signing of Dominic Solanke, who decided to leave Chelsea.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Just a few hours ago, Chelsea confirmed the signing of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. The $45 million deal is yet another move by Monaco. Last season, Monaco players impressed everyone by winning the League 1 title and making it to the Champions League semi-final. The start of the transfer window has been a busy one for the club, which has transferred players like Silva and Bakayoko. The midfielder will miss the start of the season due to a knee injury but Chelsea are said to be interested in signing a few other players.

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney will be playing for Everton after 13 years with Manchester United. The former Manchester United captain joined the club on a two year deal and said Everton was the only club he wanted to join. The midfielder got off to a great start after rejoining Everton, scoring in his first game.

Victor Lindelof

On June 14, Manchester United announced its first big signing, Victor Lindelof. The Swedish defender made a move to the Premier League after a $40 million transfer from Benfica. The Lindelof and Lukaku transfer means that Manchester United have spent more than $100 million since the transfer window opened a few weeks ago.

Ederson

Ederson was the second signing by Manchester City for the summer transfer window. Willy Caballero was released shortly after the season ended and Joe Hart appears to be moving to West Ham in the next few days. Bravo remains with the club but he struggled last season. The addition of Ederson gives the club a new goalkeeper and a good substitute with Bravo if he is not moved.

Davy Klaassen

Everton have been quite busy during the transfer window, moving Lukaku for a record transfer and signing Rooney on a two year deal. But the club’s first big move was for Davy Klaassen, who joined from Ajax after a $30 million transfer. Earlier this month, the club also signed Michael Keane.

Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva was the first big signing of Manchester City. The midfielder joined Manchester City from Monaco after a $56 million transfer. The Portuguese footballer was one of many Monaco players who impressed last season. The club is also looking to sign another Monaco player, Benjamin Mendy. Nothing has been confirmed but reports say the two teams are close to reaching an agreement.

The Premier League was already full of stars but this transfer window will only make things more interesting. The moves have been record setting so far and it appears that the transfers might continue very soon. Manchester City and Manchester United have spent more than $100 million each but clubs like Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea have also made interesting signings throughout the transfer window. The Premier League returns on August.
